For engineering and manufacturing companies, the website is often the first place a potential customer checks after finding you in Google or meeting you at a trade fair. Within a few seconds the visitor decides whether you are a credible supplier for their project.

Use this checklist to see whether your website for an engineering firm is helping you win inquiries – or quietly losing them.

Content and offer

  1. A clear statement of what you do. The first screen should say in one sentence what you offer and for whom, e.g. “Machine design and robot integration for manufacturing plants”.
  2. A separate page for each key service. One page per service makes it easier for buyers to find what they need and for Google to rank you.
  3. Technical details. Capabilities, machine park, materials, tolerances, standards – the information engineers look for before they contact a supplier.
  4. Industries and applications. Show the sectors you serve and typical problems you solve.

Trust

  1. Real projects. Photos and short case descriptions are more convincing than stock images.
  2. Clients and references. Logos of companies you have worked with (with their permission) and short testimonials.
  3. Company information. Address, registration details, team and certifications – B2B buyers check whether you are a real, stable company.

Contact

  1. An easy way to send an inquiry. A short form, a visible phone number and email on every page – not only on the contact page.
  2. Fast replies. The best website will not help if inquiries wait days for an answer. Decide who responds and how quickly.

Technology and visibility

  1. Speed and mobile display. Many decision-makers first open your site on a phone. Slow, broken mobile pages cost inquiries.
  2. SEO basics. Unique page titles and descriptions, one H1 per page, descriptive URLs and image alt texts.
  3. Analytics and conversion tracking. Google Analytics 4 and Search Console should show how many visitors you get and how many become inquiries.

How did your website score?

If you ticked fewer than nine points, your website is probably losing potential customers. The good news is that many of these elements can be improved without building a new site from scratch.
